Hi guys! After my extensive jungle trip on Stupid Man Smart Phone I decided to make up for the whole skin burning and hair splitting experience with a little luxury vacation in a beautiful forest resort near Mumbai. And besides mangoes and chickoo trees, there are some amazing avocados to be found around here! So I thought to share a little hair mask recipe with y’all that helped my junglee hair to resurrect back to the smooth city locks we love so much!

Avocados have been on our radars for quite some time now and this healthy food trend has literally become a staple in my diet. I eat avocados with anything and everything. I eat it for breakfast, I make dips out of it, and recently, I started experimenting with avocados to make my own at-home beauty products. So when I’m not eating avocados, I’m literally lathering it on my hair and skin. Sure, avocados have inspired their own series of beauty projects like shampoos, moisturisers, and oils that you can buy at a store, but trust me – the real, unprocessed thing can be just as good if not better for you.

One of my favourite things to do with avocados is to make a hair mask. Avocados are rich in omega fats so it helps repair damaged hair and gives you a really beautiful shine! My hair tends to get really dry because of all the travelling I do and because of shoots that use heated tools so I make sure that when I have an over ripe avocado in my kitchen, I mash it up and make something fun out of it.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 (over) ripe avocado
  • 6-8 oz. coconut milk
  • 1 spoon honey
  • 1 spoon fresh lemon juice
  • Large comb
  • Shower cap

If you have a blender or food processor, it’s the easiest to deseed and peel the avocado and then put all of the edible ingredients into it so you can mix it up well. If not, grab a potato masher and a large bowl and get to work! Once it’s all blended together, you can liberally apply the mask from your roots all the way down to your tips – this mask is as good for the skin on your scalp as the split ends of your hair! Use the comb to make sure you get every strand. After this, put your hair up in a bun or ponytail and then cover it with a shower cap. If you have any extra, you could probably drink it like a smoothie or make some yummy guac out of it! You will want to leave the mask in for at least half an hour, so grab a good book, watch a good show, and chill!

This mask works great for boys and girls, so try it over the weekend and let me know what y’all think!
